(born 1960 in Husum, Germany)
The choice of subjects for Jochen Hein's works seems familiar to the viewer: oceans, lakes, parks, skies etc. In depicting these subjects, Jochen Hein plays with the illusion created by the contrast between proximity and distance in his works: While they appear detailed and realistic when viewed from afar, they dissolve into abstract structures when viewed up close.
Jochen Hein lives and works in Hamburg, Germany.
Two works by Jochen Hein were on display in the exhibition “Caspar David Friedrich – Art for a New Age”, which was shown at the Hamburger Kunsthalle from December 15, 2023 to April 1, 2024.
