Yongchul Kim (born 1982 in Yeosu, South Korea)

lives and works in Stuttgart, Germany. After completing his studies in painting in Gwangju, South Korea, he studied in Stuttgart, Germany, where he graduated with a diploma in 2020.

"I'm interested in showing that everything is in flux. There is no here and now, we're in a state of perpetual change. A wave is coming, it takes us with it."

–Yongchul Kim–

The paintings by Yongchul Kim feature motifs created from bold, broad brushstrokes that condense and suddenly disintegrate again in the next moment. Everything is in flux, in constant change. There is no standstill. Figurative elements such as people, animals, plants, or flowers convey meaning and evoke both current and emotional associations.
