Jan De Vliegher (born 1964 in Bruges, Belgium) studied at Sint-Lucas School of Fine Arts in Ghent, where he graduated in 1986. He lives and works in Bruges, Belgium. Jan De Vliegher explores the principles of beauty in his paintings.

The motifs he chooses can be very different, but they are always inspired by things or places in which the artist himself has a strong interest. However, they are never actually depicted by him in a realistic way, but are transformed into arrangements of color and light. In these newly composed motifs, Jan De Vliegher embarks on a search for a harmonious and balanced composition, which he continues in series. Working in series allows Jan De Vliegher to approach the painting process in different ways and offers him the opportunity to concentrate entirely on the painting itself. Jan De Vliegher's painting is not about showing a faithful image of reality, but rather an excerpt from his reality. Despite the different motifs he uses, his characteristic, playful painting style can be found in all his works.

Recent solo exhibitions of the artist include "What you see is what you see" at the Städtische Galerie Neunkirchen and "Jan De Vliegher" at the Kunstverein Münsterland, Coesfeld, in 2019.
